About the Story
Thirteen-year-old Violet thought Space Camp would be a chance to prove she belonged among the best young space enthusiasts in the country. But at the Hawthorne Institute, the simulations are harder, the competition is fiercer, and winning might mean more than anyone is telling her.
Alongside her new teammates, Violet is thrown into a series of increasingly extreme challenges designed to test whether the cadets have what it takes to survive beyond Earth. But as the competition unfolds, Violet begins to suspect Hawthorne isn’t simply looking for the best team.
The question isn’t just who will win. It’s what they’re really being trained for.

Eleven-year-old Dillon is spending the summer in Wiggly, Wisconsin, where stories about a monster lurking beneath the lake are impossible to avoid.
Dillon isn’t exactly eager to get in the water himself. But when a fishing competition, a mysterious lucky lure, and some increasingly strange encounters pull him deeper into Wiggly’s biggest legend, staying safely on shore may no longer be an option.
To find out what’s really hiding in the lake, Dillon might have to face the one thing that scares him more than any monster—the water itself.
